A gaming console is an interactive gaming system that is specified for playing video games. The gaming consoles lineage can be traced back to 1972 when the first gaming console??Magnavox Odyssey?was released. Subsequently more popular gaming consoles such as Atari were released which were received with a substantial welcome.
Over the years the industry has flourished with thousands of games being produced and played on a variety of consoles.Now to the matter at hand Why buy a gaming console?
- It is a source for boundless entertainment(now for the whole family). Like i mentioned above thousands of games are available which can be played by the console. Nowadays each game is so involving that you are?uncontrollably?sucked into a virtual world where you are one with the game. You tend to feel things your character does and the ?suspense ?keeps you gripping your controller for a few hours after your tired. You feel victorious when you have finished a game and the rewarding system such as trophies and?gamer score?keep awarding you with trophies and points for your?achievement.

- There is a wide variety to chose from from high end consoles such as a ps3 wii or an xbox 360 to the lesser?Nintendo?ps1 etc. Such a wide variety give you numerable choices such as what type of games would i like my son/daughter to play. For e.g?Wii?is a console that does keep you active as you have to use your motions and?actions?to play the games if you?don?t?want your child to become a couch potato (much like myself) then go for the wii . If you are an older gamer and would like to play?shoot-em?up games with high res graphics go for the ps3 or the xbox 360 as most games although not limited to, on these consoles are hardcore games such as modern warfare god of war resident evil and would be more suited to a teenager.
- Some have add on features such as a dvd player or a blu ray player e.gs are ps3 xbox 360 ps3 etc. so in other words for a little extra you would get a gaming console with your dvd or blu ray player.
- In some consoles you have the internet functionality. You could buy games online from their respected gaming store buy music, videos and game online. Some consoles have bonus features as?Netflix?which allow you to watch movies online and?Skype?the video call software.
