Decatur?s Feast Restaurant will close after service tomorrow night. Owner Teri Rogers wrote this announcement on the restaurant?s website and Facebook page:

Hey Everybody!

I just wanted to let everybody know that I have decided to close the doors of Feast.

After seven years of business, it has come time to say good-bye. Most of you know that I am battling breast cancer for the second time. Although I am very positive that I will kick this disease again, it has been difficult for me to stay as focused on the business as I should be. For the first time in my life, I am going to put my health first.

In addition, our sales have suffered with this challenging economy. It has been a difficult year, not only [for] Feast, but for our customers as well. Although I have enjoyed seeing your friendly and supportive faces over the years, there just does not seem to be enough business to cover my expenses, much less make a profit. I appreciate the patronage that you have all given me. Most of you feel like family so this has been a very difficult decision. If it were not for all of you, I would not have been able to make it to seven years.

There are so many memories of fun and happy times with you all. Just seeing the contented looks on your faces when you are enjoying yourselves has made this project so rewarding. It makes me sad to think that this will be the end. And those that know me know how much I love to throw a good party, so, with luck, I will be starting a catering company and I can bring the best elements of Feast to future events for you. I will send you an updated email with all of the information.

Robin and I want to invite you all to come in this week to say goodbye; Saturday, our last night, we will be celebrating our great run in the wonderful town of Decatur with a toast to our fantastic employees. We and our staff are very sad to have such a remarkable chapter of our lives come to its end. We hope that all of you will continue to eat out often and support your local restaurants.

Peace & love,

Teri

The announcement on Facebook received 47 comments from employees and customers lamenting the news and offering good wishes for Rogers? health.

Rogers also owned Rail Kitchen & Bar (originally called Farmstead 303), which she closed last August citing the challenges of running two restaurants simultaneously in the current economy.

Rogers has many years of experience in the industry, working with the Peasant Group (early 80?s), Neighbor?s Pub, Dark Horse Tavern and Crescent Moon.

We wish her the best.
